“Don’t think. Thinking is the enemy of creativity. It’s self-conscious, and anything self-conscious is lousy. You can’t try to do things. You simply must do things.” -Ray Bradbury
There are times when I make artwork for a purpose when there is a very clear idea of what I want to create and how I am going to do it and then there are other circumstances where the process of creating is like playing jazz. This illustration was an improvisation. I had no idea where I was going or what I wanted to accomplish I just began drawing something. I have no idea why I stated with a bonsai tree or why I even felt like it was important, but it was. It could have been created by something deep inside my subconscious.
This landscape is a direct representation of where I am as an artist and an individual. For some reason or another this piece represents my mentality and I feel balanced right now. I have turned a corner recently and there are some great opportunities that I have been presented to me that are amazing and exhilarating. It is a validation of what I have been doing for sometime now which is a superb feeling!
